OVERVIEW

 

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 2004 with an annual intake of 60 students. The department offers B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and has competent, experienced and dedicated faculty. Further the department has well equipped  traditional  & modern laboratories such as Machines Lab, Power System Simulation Lab, High Voltage Lab, Relay Lab, Circuits and simulation Lab, Microcontroller Lab, Control System Lab  to cater the all round development of the students.

To be a Department of Excellence in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Education and Research, thereby to provide technically competent and ethical professionals to serve the society.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES


PO1.  An ability to apply the knowledge of mathematics, science and Engineering in all aspects of Electrical Engineering.


PO2.  An ability to communicate effectively and to prepare formal technical plans leading to solutions and detailed reports for electrical systems.


PO3.  Broad theoretical knowledge in Electrical Engineering and the methods of applying them to identify, formulate and solve practical problems involving electrical signals and power.


PO4.   An ability to apply the techniques of using appropriate tools to investigate, analyze, design, simulate and/or fabricate/commission complete systems involving generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy .


PO5.  An ability to model real life problems using different hardware and software platforms, both offline and in real-time.


PO6.   To assess the feasibility, applicability, optimality and future scope of power networks and apparatus.


PO7.  Possess ability to assess , analyze and apply advanced control techniques to interconnected electrical systems and subsystems.


PO8. Ability to work in a team and comprehend his/her scope of work, deliverables and issues in which help is needed by other members of the team.

 

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES


PEO1. To provide students with the knowledge related to Electrical Engineering so as to impart the necessary skill to analyze and synthesize electrical circuits, to handle electrical apparatus.


PEO2. To provide technical knowledge, skill and competence to identify, comprehend and solve problems in industry, research and academics related to power and electronic hardware.


PEO3. To prepare the students to successfully work in various Industrial and Government organizations, both at the National and International level, with professional competence and ethical administrative insight so as to be able to meet Global challenges.


PEO4. To prepare and inspire the students to become future researchers / scientists with innovative ideas for a sustainable development.


PEO5. To mould the students to improve their technical and intellectual capabilities through life-long learning process so as to become good teachers.

Recent Activities:

 

1. Industrial visit on12th April 2017:

 

To enhance the practical knowledge of the students and also to update the students for recent technologies in the industry, the department had organized an Industrial Visit to Antharasana Hally (220kV/66kV/11kV) Receiving Station, Power Grid Station  (765kV/400KV/220KV) and Toshiba and Mitsubishi Electric (TMEIC) , AC machines manufacturing unit on 12th April 2017.

LAB INFORMATION

The department has well equipped state-of-the-art electrical machines like Induction motors, DC Motors, Synchronous motors and Transformers, AC and DC servo motor, syncro pair system. The department has well developed Analog Electronics, Microcontroller, Logic Design and Power electronics lab. High Voltage lab is equipped with 100KVA transformer and all relay testing kits. The department maintains a Computer Lab with high configuration computers, MATLAB software package, Simulation Software package, MIPOWER software package for study and analysis of large power systems.

   Mrs. Radha B.N has got Elite certification for having scored 71% marks in “Introduction to Research” NPTEL online course conducted by IIT Madras in March 2017.

1. In  2015-2016 , two of our final year students  projects  were sponsored by Karnataka State Council of Science and Technology(KSCST), IISc Bangalore – 12 with a amount of 6000/- .

2. In 2014-2015  , one of our final year project titled "Plan distribution system for protection of transformer using PLC" by  Dayananda S.K, Harshavardhan C.R, Sharath A.M and Shivaraju T,  Project proposal reference number: 38S1293 was  sponsored by Karnataka State Council of Science and Technology (KSCST), IISc Bangalore - 12 and was also  selected for final round of project exhibition held at Sahyadri college of engineering and management in Mangalore on 20th  and 21st Aug 2015.
