2023-24
The Department of CSE is delighted to share that we have successfully organized a gaming event PLAYCON , a first of its kind in CIT .
The event had four games in which more than 100 students of all branches participated enthusiastically.
We wholeheartedly thank our beloved Principal & Director Dr D S Suresh sir for his support. We also thank Dr Shantala C P Vice Principal and HOD , Dept of CSE for her endless motivation for all the dept activities
Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with CADC CIT , Gubbi conducted a workshop on Resume Building Activity for 6th semester CSE students on 19/6/2024. The workshop was conducted by Dr Chetan Balaji Training & Placement officer, CIT Gubbi.
The outcome of the workshop was
- Students understood the importance of Resume
- Educated on different types of Resume
- Students created their resumes
Department of CSE in association with SPARK-IT Technical club conducted a session on Coding Development Bootcamp for First-year students on 13/06/2024. The resource person was Mr Srijith H S , System Engineer,TCS and proud alumni of CSE .
The main Objective was to introduce students to various online coding platforms and it’s affirmative impact on their careers.

TECHNOTHOUGHT-2024
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, CIT , Gubbi conducted a National-level Innovative Idea presenting competition “TECHNOTHOUGHT-2024” as a part of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) activity.
The event was sponsored by the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) Karnataka section, The Institute of Engineers (IEI) Tumkur local chapter , supported by ITIE academy, Eunoia labs , Coral Academy of Learning and Management,(CALM),iihcus, ChangePe,
Theme of the Event: To identify sustainable problems in society and provide a Technology-based solution.
Out of 59 teams registered, 19 teams were shortlisted for the final round which was conducted on 12/01/2024 at the CIT campus ,Gubbi. The event was coordinated by Prof Suhas K C and Prof Mahesh N of CSE Department
CIT bagged First Prize, while GSSSITW, and Mysore won both second and third prizes.
Industrial Visit to Infosys Pvt Ltd, Mysore Campus
Department of Computer science and Engineering, CIT , Gubbi had organized an Industrial trip to Infosys Pvt Ltd, Mysore Campus on 13/01/2024.
Takeaway of visit:
1)Students came to know about the working culture of IT company
2) Recruitment process
3) About various domains of training
4) How to prepare for placements,
Students also witnessed the training classrooms, infrastructure, induction program and many more things. The visit was coordinated by Prof Suhas K C and Prof Mahesh N of CSE Department.
ALGORITHMS PUZZLES
A session was organized by the department of Computer Science on 24ththaugust, 2023 about “Algorithms and puzzles” and conducted by Dr Pradeep C R. He is a Professor and a subject matter expert for all engineering mathematics courses appointed by Faculty advisory board VTU e-Shikshana, He is a member of Board of studies in the department of Basic science and allied subjects at NIE, VVCE, Mysore.
The purpose of this session is:
- Review of general strategies for designing algorithms
- Different techniques
- Powerful tool kit in Computer Science
- illustrating this by proposing some classical puzzles and their solutions
Some of the problems solved in this session are:
- Magic square
- The n-Queens Problem: Place n queens on an n×n chessboard so that no two queens attack each other by being in the same column, row, or diagonal.
- Celebrity Problem: A celebrity among a group of n people is a person who knows nobody but is known by everybody else. The task is to identify a celebrity by only asking questions to people of the following form: “Do you know this person?”
- Number Guessing: Determine a selected integer in the range from 1 to n, inclusive, by asking questions with yes/no answers.
- A Fake Among Eight Coins
- 2n-Counters Problem: For any n> 1, place 2n counters on an n×n board so that no more than two counters are in the same row, column, or diagonal.
- Envelope-change problem: There are one thousand one rupee coins. Insert them in 10 envelopes so than any asked amount may be given without opening the envelope.
- Two Jealous Husbands:There are two married couples who need to cross a river.
- Draw the state-space graph.
- Guarini’s Puzzle.
- Non-threatening Kings: Place the greatest possible number of kings on an 8×8 chessboard so that no two kings can threaten the other.

Blockchain & IoT (6 Days AICTE-ISTE Refresher Programme)
The Computer Science & Engineering Department of CIT organized 6 days AICTE-ISTE sponsored Refresher Program on Blockchain & IoT in order to cater the industry needs, provide a platform for learning the advancements and to guide the researchers in the area of Blockchain & IoT. In recent times, Blockchain & IoT technology is considered to be one of the most popular catchphrases. In order to do innovative research work, projects, and build a knowledge base, it is therefore necessary to raise awareness among researchers and academicians to train in Blockchain & IoT Field.

Session-1 aptly commenced with a brief introduction to blockchain and IoT technologies with use cases by Mr. Shivakumar Mathapathi, Chief Technology Officer, Xtrans Solutions LLC, California, US.
Session-2 Dr. Swaroop Kalasapur from Schlumberger, San Jose, California, US has spoken on adopting decentralization techniques in IoT applications, evolution of IoT in the Energy Industry, use of blockchain in IoT applications. He has given blockchain and IoT industry use cases like emission tracking, Edge vision, Logistics operation, Edge VisionLedger assisted logistics. He ended with when and when not to use blockchain in IoT applications. This session is followed by K8S, IoT and Blockchain session from Dr. Sridhar K N Rao, Solutions Architect, Spirent Communications, Bangalore. The takeaway message from his session is “Kubernetes is becoming a must in implementing IoT and Blockchain Solutions – it helps to know and get comfortable with it”.

Session-3 the post lunch session was taken by Dr. Pradeep C R and Prof. Sharayu Pradeep, Professors from Department of Maths, CIT, Gubbi. The session was on Cryptographic Hash Functions and Elliptic curve cryptography. In this session speaker discussed on Importance and usage Hash Functions & Elliptic curve cryptography in the field of Blockchain.
Session-4 The session 4 was taken by Mr. Suresh D, Senior Manager, Renesas Electronics India pvt ltd, Bangalore on IoT applications & potential. In this session Mr. Suresh discussed from basics of IoT to consumer IoT products and services namely Helmet Concussion Sensor, Medical Alert Watch, Smart Fitness Clothing and Smart Running Shoes, One button product purchase, Garden Sensor and Smart Televisions.
Session-5 The session 5 was taken by Mr. Preetham M N CEO and Co-founder Adviken Labs, Bangalore. The session was on IoT Gateway. In this session speaker discussed about IoT Reference model, Typical IoT setup, IoT Ecosystem, IoT Connectivity, Threats in IoT and also highlighted the use of Edge Computing in IoT. He ended his session with the detailed explanation on role of IoT Gateway, its hardware & software, per silo integration & platform-based integration.
Session-6 The post lunch session was taken by Mrs. B R Sujatha, Head Delivery TCS, Bangalore. This session was on Security of IoT devices. In this session speaker discussed about IoT Ecosystem Security, Threats of Cyber-attacks, standards like IEC 62443 and Certification agencies, The day ended with daily test, conducted on the topics discussed in different sessions of the day
Session-7 was taken by Bharath Kumar Allam Principal Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on Introduction of IoT and Use cases and Demos. In this session Mr. Bharath discussed hardware platforms, protocols related to IoT. The session ended with real time demo of IoT enabled COVID 19 vaccination logistics.
Session-8 was taken by Mr. Kiran Kumar H M Program Director Mindtree, Bangalore. The session was on IoT Industry Overview. In this session speaker discussed about IoT industry needs, platforms & solutions used in industry followed by higher level case studies. He ended his session with the brief overview on smart city project, IoT devices needed to deploy & integration of systems.
Session-9 The post lunch session was taken by Mr. Rajendra C J, Research Associate, Department of ECE CIT, Gubbi & Mr. Anil Kumar G, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, CIT, Gubbi. This session was on IoT Projects Demo. In this session speaker discussed on IoT devices and Battery Health Monitoring System project, demonstrated Electrical appliances project. The day ended with daily test, conducted on the topics discussed in different sessions of the day.
Session-10 The session 10 was taken by Mr. Krishan Mohan Patel Product Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on The Convergence of Blockchain & IoT Use cases & Demos. In this session Mr. Krishan discussed use cases on supply chain logistics, automotive industry, agri-food supply chain, smart vehicle monitoring system, environmental monitoring. He also demonstrated development environment of both IoT & Blockchain.
Session-11 was taken by Mr. Girish Chandrashekar Senior Architect/Engineer NetApp, Bangalore. The session was on Edge computing. In this session speaker discussed about what is edge computing, what actually drives edge computing, why is it needed, architecture & use cases.
Session-12 The post lunch session was taken by Mr. Nagaraj Rao Director Automation Sourish Technologies, Bangalore. This session was on Security of IOT IN AUTOMATION. This session was followed by Dr. Suresh D S, Chairman, ISTE Karnataka Section, Director & Principal, CIT, Gubbi. The session was on National Education Policy. In this session speaker discussed about Implementation of NEP 2020, Evolution of Education Policy in India, Background of formation, outcomes of NEP 2020.
Session-13 was taken by Dr. Gururaj H L, Associate Professor & ACM Distinguish Speaker, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysore. on Blockchain Technology and it’s Applications. In this session Dr. Gururaj H L discussed on blockchain technology, hash algorithms. He used as web tool https://toos.superdatascience.com/blockchain/has to demonstrate simple blockchain application. The session ended with demonstration of ganache suite for Ethereum Blockchain.
Session-14 was taken by Mr. Krishan Mohan Patel Product Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on securing IoT application using blockchain – a practical approach. In this session speaker demonstrated complete movie rating app implementation.
Session-15 The post lunch session was taken by Mrs. Prachi Adhikari Blockchain Architect Wipro, Bangalore. This session was on Application of Blockchain in finance. In this session speaker discussed about payment rails, blockchain properties suitable for financial applications, lightning network, Ethereum, unresolved issues. This session is followed by Dr. Bhavana Prasad, MBBS, DNB(Psychiatry) Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, SIMSRH, Tumkur, delivered talk on Stress Management. The day ended with daily test, conducted on the topics discussed in different sessions of the day
Session-16 The session 16 was taken by Dr. Vinayaka Pandit, Senior Manager and Strategist IBM Research India. In this session Mr. Pandit discussed problems that blockchain technology aims to solve. He also gave the overview of key components of Blockchain technology.
Session-17 was taken by was taken by Mr. Krishan Mohan Patel Product Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on Use of IoT and AR/VR in Healthcare. In this session speaker discussed Healthcare system, medical sensors like Infrared Temperature sensor, MLX30102 Pulse Oximeter, Body temperature sensor, ECG sensor, Galvonic Skin Response, Thermal Camera. He also focused on mHealth, Virtual Network Connect development environment. He demonstrated some applications.
Session-18 The post lunch session was taken by Prof. Vipin Kumar Rathi Ramanujan College, University of Delhi, Delhi. This session was on Blockchain Defined Networking.

Blockchain & IoT (6 Days AICTE-ISTE Refresher Programme)
The Computer Science & Engineering Department of CIT organized 6 days AICTE-ISTE sponsored Refresher Program on Blockchain & IoT in order to cater the industry needs, provide a platform for learning the advancements and to guide the researchers in the area of Blockchain & IoT. In recent times, Blockchain & IoT technology is considered to be one of the most popular catchphrases. In order to do innovative research work, projects, and build a knowledge base, it is therefore necessary to raise awareness among researchers and academicians to train in Blockchain & IoT Field.

Session-1 aptly commenced with a brief introduction to blockchain and IoT technologies with use cases by Mr. Shivakumar Mathapathi, Chief Technology Officer, Xtrans Solutions LLC, California, US.
Session-2 Dr. Swaroop Kalasapur from Schlumberger, San Jose, California, US has spoken on adopting decentralization techniques in IoT applications, evolution of IoT in the Energy Industry, use of blockchain in IoT applications. He has given blockchain and IoT industry use cases like emission tracking, Edge vision, Logistics operation, Edge VisionLedger assisted logistics. He ended with when and when not to use blockchain in IoT applications. This session is followed by K8S, IoT and Blockchain session from Dr. Sridhar K N Rao, Solutions Architect, Spirent Communications, Bangalore. The takeaway message from his session is “Kubernetes is becoming a must in implementing IoT and Blockchain Solutions – it helps to know and get comfortable with it”.

Session-3 the post lunch session was taken by Dr. Pradeep C R and Prof. Sharayu Pradeep, Professors from Department of Maths, CIT, Gubbi. The session was on Cryptographic Hash Functions and Elliptic curve cryptography. In this session speaker discussed on Importance and usage Hash Functions & Elliptic curve cryptography in the field of Blockchain.
Session-4 The session 4 was taken by Mr. Suresh D, Senior Manager, Renesas Electronics India pvt ltd, Bangalore on IoT applications & potential. In this session Mr. Suresh discussed from basics of IoT to consumer IoT products and services namely Helmet Concussion Sensor, Medical Alert Watch, Smart Fitness Clothing and Smart Running Shoes, One button product purchase, Garden Sensor and Smart Televisions.
Session-5 The session 5 was taken by Mr. Preetham M N CEO and Co-founder Adviken Labs, Bangalore. The session was on IoT Gateway. In this session speaker discussed about IoT Reference model, Typical IoT setup, IoT Ecosystem, IoT Connectivity, Threats in IoT and also highlighted the use of Edge Computing in IoT. He ended his session with the detailed explanation on role of IoT Gateway, its hardware & software, per silo integration & platform-based integration.
Session-6 The post lunch session was taken by Mrs. B R Sujatha, Head Delivery TCS, Bangalore. This session was on Security of IoT devices. In this session speaker discussed about IoT Ecosystem Security, Threats of Cyber-attacks, standards like IEC 62443 and Certification agencies, The day ended with daily test, conducted on the topics discussed in different sessions of the day
Session-7 was taken by Bharath Kumar Allam Principal Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on Introduction of IoT and Use cases and Demos. In this session Mr. Bharath discussed hardware platforms, protocols related to IoT. The session ended with real time demo of IoT enabled COVID 19 vaccination logistics.
Session-8 was taken by Mr. Kiran Kumar H M Program Director Mindtree, Bangalore. The session was on IoT Industry Overview. In this session speaker discussed about IoT industry needs, platforms & solutions used in industry followed by higher level case studies. He ended his session with the brief overview on smart city project, IoT devices needed to deploy & integration of systems.
Session-9 The post lunch session was taken by Mr. Rajendra C J, Research Associate, Department of ECE CIT, Gubbi & Mr. Anil Kumar G, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, CIT, Gubbi. This session was on IoT Projects Demo. In this session speaker discussed on IoT devices and Battery Health Monitoring System project, demonstrated Electrical appliances project. The day ended with daily test, conducted on the topics discussed in different sessions of the day.
Session-10 The session 10 was taken by Mr. Krishan Mohan Patel Product Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on The Convergence of Blockchain & IoT Use cases & Demos. In this session Mr. Krishan discussed use cases on supply chain logistics, automotive industry, agri-food supply chain, smart vehicle monitoring system, environmental monitoring. He also demonstrated development environment of both IoT & Blockchain.
Session-11 was taken by Mr. Girish Chandrashekar Senior Architect/Engineer NetApp, Bangalore. The session was on Edge computing. In this session speaker discussed about what is edge computing, what actually drives edge computing, why is it needed, architecture & use cases.
Session-12 The post lunch session was taken by Mr. Nagaraj Rao Director Automation Sourish Technologies, Bangalore. This session was on Security of IOT IN AUTOMATION. This session was followed by Dr. Suresh D S, Chairman, ISTE Karnataka Section, Director & Principal, CIT, Gubbi. The session was on National Education Policy. In this session speaker discussed about Implementation of NEP 2020, Evolution of Education Policy in India, Background of formation, outcomes of NEP 2020.
Session-13 was taken by Dr. Gururaj H L, Associate Professor & ACM Distinguish Speaker, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysore. on Blockchain Technology and it’s Applications. In this session Dr. Gururaj H L discussed on blockchain technology, hash algorithms. He used as web tool https://toos.superdatascience.com/blockchain/has to demonstrate simple blockchain application. The session ended with demonstration of ganache suite for Ethereum Blockchain.
Session-14 was taken by Mr. Krishan Mohan Patel Product Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on securing IoT application using blockchain – a practical approach. In this session speaker demonstrated complete movie rating app implementation.
Session-15 The post lunch session was taken by Mrs. Prachi Adhikari Blockchain Architect Wipro, Bangalore. This session was on Application of Blockchain in finance. In this session speaker discussed about payment rails, blockchain properties suitable for financial applications, lightning network, Ethereum, unresolved issues. This session is followed by Dr. Bhavana Prasad, MBBS, DNB(Psychiatry) Consultant Neuropsychiatrist, SIMSRH, Tumkur, delivered talk on Stress Management. The day ended with daily test, conducted on the topics discussed in different sessions of the day
Session-16 The session 16 was taken by Dr. Vinayaka Pandit, Senior Manager and Strategist IBM Research India. In this session Mr. Pandit discussed problems that blockchain technology aims to solve. He also gave the overview of key components of Blockchain technology.
Session-17 was taken by was taken by Mr. Krishan Mohan Patel Product Engineer Xtrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on Use of IoT and AR/VR in Healthcare. In this session speaker discussed Healthcare system, medical sensors like Infrared Temperature sensor, MLX30102 Pulse Oximeter, Body temperature sensor, ECG sensor, Galvonic Skin Response, Thermal Camera. He also focused on mHealth, Virtual Network Connect development environment. He demonstrated some applications.
