Research Centre – Department of Mathematics

About Research Center

The research centre was started in 2015. The learning of Mathematics is not merely memorizing the problem-solving procedure, it has to develop Mathematical reasoning. In fact, mathematical education is nothing but mathematical engineering. By keeping this in mind the dept. of Mathematics started the research centre in 2015 with the following objectives.

Mission:  To create an environment in which the students become competent users of Mathematics..

Vision: Inspiring students to learn how to think logically and Mathematically and understand the construction of mathematical arguments and to find optimal way to solve engg. Problems and problems in our daily life.

The dept. of Mathematics came in to existence with the establishment of the institution in 2001 to cater the mathematical needs of engineering community

Objectives:

The primary objective is to enhance the professional fulfilment of researchers for whom Mathematics is vital part of the research problem under investigation. This facilitated by fostering collaborative research in Mathematics and areas in engineering which demand core competency in Mathematics.

The research center wants to develop the skills pertinent to the practice of Mathematics, including the, the research candidate’s ability to formulate problems, to think creatively, to synthesize information and to finally apply it to the benefit of the society as a whole.

For this modern digital age where computers and communication play a fundamental role in development, the research center offers to hone and fine tune computational skills. Research center offers a fresh perspective on problems from the angle of symmetry, pattern and deduction which are at the heart of Mathematics.

The faculties of the dept. are interested in the following areas:

Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Linear algebra, coding Theory, Differential Geometry, Finite element methods.
