NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
NSS-I &II
CIT apart from creating a platform for academic excellence also, ensures the students to get exposure to the real world and builds up leadership qualities and social responsibility by conducting various co and extra co curricular activities like sports, NSS, and KNEW. CIT-NSS Unit-I, was established in the year 2004, with the aim of involving the students on voluntary basis in various activities of social services and national development services, which while making a contribution to socio-economic progress would also provide opportunities to the students to understand and appreciate the problems of the communities, awaken social consciousness and inculcate in them the sense of ‘dignity of labour’.
College Management and Director, Dr. Suresh D S, grabbed the opportunity of establishment of NSS Unit-II, exclusively for women – a first of its kind in VTU affiliated colleges” during the year 2019, for the women empowerment particularly in rural and semi urban areas.
CIT-NSS units conducts several social service activities like ‘Blood Donation Camps’, ‘Medical Awareness Programs’, ‘Agricultural Awareness Programs’ for rural area, in addition to ‘Cleanliness’, ‘Say No to Plastic’ – under NSS regular activities. CIT-NSS units on regular basis also conduct NSS special camps in the rural areas for seven days, in a year and try to establish students with ‘Rural Communication’. NSS special camps includes several societal beneficial activities like ‘Planting Saplings’, ‘Health Checkup Camps’, ‘Cleanliness Awareness Programs’, and ‘Educational Awareness’ in the rural schools/areas..
As CIT is recognized as ‘Best Engineering College, in Rural area’, we take pride in developing rural areas. We strongly believe that, development of villages is development of India. Every year, we conduct a ‘Special Camp’ in which, we adopt a village in our locality, and conduct vocational training for the formers like ‘Vermi Compost; ‘Proper Use of Water Resources’, ‘Nursery Management’, and Rain Water Harvesting etc.
